Wired & Wireless Connections - Business Broadband
Tailoring Broadband Services To Meet Your Needs
The Wired Workplace's broadband services combine both fixed and wireless technologies. We can tailor a service to fit your needs, using ADSL/SDSL, leased lines or WiMax and WiFi.
ADSL
ADSL is the most popular Broadband technology in use in the UK today and offers modest capacity and quality at the lowest price. ADSL is simply a fast way of transferring information across a standard telephone line. A key advantage of ADSL is that it is an "always on" service. It shares your BT line so that you don't suffer engaged tones when using the connection.
SDSL
SDSL is a lesser known version of DSL that uses the same copper telephone wires as ADSL but enables higher qualities and different types of services to be offered. It is especially useful as a lower cost alternative to leased lines for relatively short distances. The key difference between ADSL and SDSL is that SDSL allows you to send and received equally large amounts of information. SDSL users therefore tend to be companies who generate and receive large amounts of digital information which has to move quickly across the network.
Leased lines
Leased lines are dedicated lines which give a permanent connection between two offices, buildings or company branches. For a fixed rate leased lines provide security, and guaranteed service levels. Lines are generally used for shifting data, but in certain circumstances can also be used for a mixture of voice and data.
Point To Point
For a point-to-point alternative to leased lines, we also offer a mixture of Free Space Optics (laser) and wireless technologies to deliver very high capacity between two sites, usually where there is a line of sight between the transmitters.
The Wired Workplace has been offering wireless broadband in Sheffield since 2006 based on the WiMAX standard. A mast situated on Shirecliffe next to the dry ski slope enables us to offer a full range of high quality broadband services which bridge the gap between DSL and leased line services. We will also be building facilities based on the WiFi standard from a number of buildings in South Yorkshire so contact us for further details.
